WALKATHON

The Walk-a-Thon, which occurs in October each year, is the school’s major fundraiser and has been a tradition at Tam Valley for many years.  In addition to fundraising, this event is a tremendous community-building occasion in which Tam Valley families get to know other families better.  Students have fun walking laps around the school, and parents can join in to do a few laps with their children, eat delicious food, listen to a live band, and shop at the White Elephant Sale and the Silent Auction.

The money raised at the Walk-a-Thon is used to fund classroom supplies, computer equipment, the library aide, and library books.  In the past Walk-a-Thon proceeds paid for new playground structures and lunch tables.  All money is channeled through the PTA and is an invaluable supplement to district funds for student projects and facilities upkeep.

A large number of parent volunteers are needed to make this event a success, and each year parents “step up to plate” to show their support for Tam Valley School.
